May Life and Peace be upon all beings.
Today is the day of the year when, in the northern hemisphere, daytime is the longest, the sun rising the earliest and setting the latest, and when the sun at midday is at the highest in the sky. In the southern hemisphere, it’s the opposite.
We name it the Day of the Summit of the Sun, and it’s usually called the summer solstice.
This day symbolises the Liberation of Life which reaches its full presence in warmth and breath and light, it symbolises maturity, autonomy and might.
It is celebrated in many cultures around the world as the beginning of the phase of the year that is the season of warmth and fullness of life, summer. Summer will last 94 days this year.
The astronomical event corresponds to the highest excursion of the sun’s apparent position relative to the celestial equator, of 23° 26’ 13’’ towards the north. Today, it occurs precisely at 2 h 42 min 11 s UTC, corresponding to 4 h 42 min 11 s in Central European Summer Time (CEST = UTC+2 time zone which includes notably Belgium and France).
May this Sun Summit Day bring you all Freedom, Power over yourselves, and Happiness!
